Tom Witchell joins Jackson-Stops Dorking

We are delighted to welcome Tom Witchell to the team at Jackson-Stops Dorking, and we know that his 25 years of experience in the local property market will complement our team's knowledge and expertise and bring an extra pair of skilled hands to you, our clients. We spoke with Tom to find out a little more about him, his experience and what you can expect from him if you choose to buy or sell your Surrey home with Jackson-Stops Dorking.

What's your career to date?
I've worked in property for approximately 25 years, during which time I spent time in building and construction before starting a career in agency with Gascoigne-Pees. I joined White and Sons in Dorking in 2002 where I worked for the following 20 years, the last seven of which I was an acting Partner. Being MNAEA qualified, I sincerely hope that my long term experience will provide Jackson-Stops clients a significant advantage when it comes to marketing their homes, with indepth local knowledge, genuine property sale experience and an honest, friendly approach.

How well do you know the local area?
Very well! I attended Ashcombe School in Dorking and have lived in Dorking for the last 20 years - which should define me as a local guy!

What do you love about Dorking?
I have always been a dog lover and living in Dorking means I'm spoilt for choice when it comes to where I take my four legged companion for a walk. Wherever you are locally, there's a great walk on your doorstep, and some breathtaking landscapes and of course a fine selection of excellent pubs at the end of every walk. A favourite is a walk at Box Hill, or a stroll around the country lanes in the Surrey Hills.

Dorking is filled with independent businesses, no more so than the high street, and I'm particularly fond of a good investigation of our antique shops. We're blessed with so many wonderful restaurants too, so eating out is a highlight. I love the architecture too – particularly West Street with everything from Queen Anne and Georgian townhouses to modernist residential houses

Why is Dorking a good place to live?
Dorking is just so convenient. Whether it's access to Gatwick, Heathrow or the excellent transport links, a short journey to London - it's easily commutable - and we're not even too far from the coast. It's such a central place to live and work. There are many excellent schools in Dorking and the surrounding Surrey towns, and so it's a great place to raise a family, and there is a superb range of sporting and activity clubs too.

What will you offer to Jackson-Stops clients?
Joining Jackson-Stops is a great fit for me, as I will be able to use all of the expertise and experience I have gained over decades to complement the already excellent team here. I will mirror the team in offering a bespoke and gentle advisory service for all property matters. If a client begins their house buying or selling process with me, I will be there every step of the way - from beginning to end. I enjoy problem solving and, more than anything, I enjoy helping others to achieve their goals.

My particular areas of expertise are country properties and equestrian properties. I have owned horses for most of my life and I represented the UK in Polocrosse (lacrosse on horseback!).
