'The grandly named Wix Abbey, in the village of Wix near Manningtree, was never actually an abbey, although the 12th-century Wix Priory was once nearby. The grade II listed five-bedroom home was built as an Elizabethan hall house between 1561 and 1575. The title of lord of the manor, held by the current owners, is also for sale — via separate negotiation. Outside, there is just under three acres of land including lawns, ponds, and a tennis court.
