Illustrative plans prepared for the restoration of a substantial Victorian manor house and the creation of 2 new dwellings in the Arts & Crafts style

Lot 1 - Foxhunt Manor - about 13,784 sq ft

A magnificent Victorian manor house dating from 1898 and built by Joseph Lucas Junior, a builder who built the property for himself and his family. The property was later sold to the Oakshott family, until 1935 when the Estate was divided and purchased by the Xaverian Brothers, when it was run as a preparatory boarding school. The school closed in 1959 when it was purchased by the Order of The Visitation.

This fine country house has brick elevations with matching coloured mullions, under a tiled roof. The internal joinery is high quality oak with panelled dados and doors, carved friezes and chimney pieces, fine carved archways and wood panelled ceilings to some rooms, with oak strip floors. The current accommodation is arranged over 4 floors with proposals to provide a fine reception hall, library, drawing room, conservatory, dining room, music room, kitchen, scullery and morning room on the ground floor; a master bedroom suite and 6 further first floor bedrooms; extensive staff accommodation on the second floor; and gymnasium and service areas on the lower ground floor. In addition the architects have designed a Palladian swimming pool hall.

In the 1960's a substantial addition was built housing a chapel and ancillary rooms and under the current proposal this 60's building would be taken down and the house restored to its original scale. The demolished area would give justification for the construction of two new dwellings within the grounds.

The property is suitable for adaptation for an equestrian estate.

Stephen Langer Associates will advise on particular requirements and have provided indicative plans of the layout of the house to give purchasers an idea of the scope and scale of the restoration of the original country house.

2 New Dwellings - each about 5,454 sq ft

Designed by the architects Stephen Langer Associates as an homage to Sir Edwin Lutyens and CFA Voysey in the 'Arts and Crafts' style. The current design is to provide a drawing room, morning room, dining hall, library, kitchen, scullery and domestic offices on the ground floors and a master bedroom suite, guest bedroom suite and 4 further bedrooms on the first floors.

The architects are willing to work with prospective purchasers to accommodate designs to match their particular requirements to achieve the necessary planning consents.

Lot 2 - The Lutyens House

The indicative floor plans are shown to give interested parties an idea of the style and scale which could be built on the site. Alternative designs can be discussed to suit a particular purchaser's requirements. The site is south west facing on a gentle slope currently down to pasture and wooded shaws. In all about 10 acres.

Lot 3 - The Voysey House

The indicative floor plans are shown to give interested parties an idea of the style and scale which could be built on the site. Alternative designs can be discussed to suit a particular purchaser's requirements. The site is south west facing on a gentle slope currently down to pasture and wooded shaws. In all about 16 acres.
