The Property
Ermecot House is a wonderful, Grade II listed
Georgian residence standing in approximately 10
acres of beautiful gardens and grounds,
encompassed by glorious South Hams
countryside. In recent years the property has
undergone a complete and most sympathetic
restoration, using only the finest materials and
craftsmen. Ermecot House exudes the opulence
and associated hallmarks of its time, yet careful
consideration to modern day conveniences
ensures for a most comfortable and up to date
home. Built in the 1820s, as part of the
Carew Pole Estate, the property is particularly
light and classically laid out, with elegant,
well-proportioned rooms decorated with intricate
coving, impressive fireplaces and window shutters
to some. There are a number of modern day
enhancements, including the addition of a
stunning bespoke orangery, which provides a
fabulous, multi-functional, year-round room.
There is also a state of the art alarm, television
and sound system installed. From the elegant
reception hall there are two bay window
reception rooms, a cloakroom, together with 2 well-appointed kitchens, the main kitchen
leading into the spectacular orangery. Doors
from the inner hall lead to two enclosed
courtyards, while others provide access to a
further cloakroom, laundry room and
bathroom. The wine store may be accessed from
one of the courtyards. The master bedroom
suite and 4 other bedrooms and bathroom are
located on the first floor, while a very useful guest
suite (bedroom six), with disability facilities, is
located on the ground floor. Virtually all rooms
enjoy views over the gardens, grounds and
neighbouring countryside.
Additional accommodation includes a charming
two bedroom gatehouse cottage, while one of
the outbuildings has also been converted to
provide excellent office, gym and workshop
space.
