Mayfair estate agent’s link to Chelsea Flower Show
The wonderful Chelsea Flower Show is in full bloom at the moment and we love the atmosphere around our offices at this time of year.
However, it is perhaps Jackson-Stops & Staff’s Mayfair office that is most closely linked to this fabulous event as the Mother of our sales manager, Nick Austin, once again undertakes her eminent role as Chief Medical Officer to the Royal Horticultural Society’s world famous show.
The attached photo shows Nick – in full Jackson-Stops & Staff colours – accompanying his mother to Buckingham Palace to receive her Knighthood as a Dame for services to charity.

Spacious family house available to rent in Teddington
Writes Mark Birch from Teddington estate agents Jackson-Stops & Staff:
“Those with a general interest in history will be aware that this month marks the 70th anniversary of the world famous Dam Buster raid.
“What is less known is the strong link between Teddington and the inventor of the bouncing bomb used in these raids. Barnes Wallis spent a long time at Teddington’s National Physical Laboratory testing the fundamentals of his ideas by shooting ping pong balls across the large tanks located there.
“Nothing remains of these tanks but the National Physical Laboratory is still very active, hosting a number of corporate, sporting and communal events.
“Next door to this venue, Jackson-Stops & Staff are pleased to present a special house for rent, located adjacent to the picturesque Bushy Park in the aptly named Admiralty Way.”
The property boasts a bright and spacious tower bedroom with a dual aspect outlook and double height ceilings. Click here for more details or contact Mark on 020 8943 9955.

A taste of Italy
Annabel Smith of Jackson-Stops & Staff International talks about a workshop she recently attended in Le Marche, Italy, where she met with many local Italian agents to discuss the sale of some fantastic villas and apartments across the region, to UK buyers.
“Le Marche is a fascinating region steeped in history. You walk around the various towns and cities dotted throughout the picturesque countryside, and never fail to be amazed by the culture you stumble across. Ascoli Piceno in southern Le Marche for example, bordered by two natural parks, is a large city with a charming old town centre, featuring beautiful old churches, museums and historic buildings and ruins. All this culture and history makes Ascoli Piceno a fantastic place to visit, and is only a 20 minute drive to the long sandy beaches of San Benedetto del Tronto, should you fancy a bit of sun and sand.
“Le Marche has so much to offer buyers, with breathtaking views, stunning countryside, and wonderful coastlines. This region is certainly a bundle of joy with much to explore – ticking all the boxes for those who like countryside getaways, seaside retreats or properties close to ski resorts – it has it all.
“If you are a fan of wine then you can try some delightful wines from this region including the delicious white Pecorino. Or, try the foods of the region in many top quality restaurants; including their famous appetizer of deep fried green olives, stuffed with delicious meats.
“Not yet known among tourists or UK buyers, this region is well worth looking into if you would like more property for your money, with equal if not more beauty and culture, compared to the more expensive regions of Italy such as Tuscany for example.”
Getting The Knowledge in Pimlico
Writes Georgina Clarke, Lettings Director at Pimlico estate agents Jackson-Stops & Staff:
“Have you ever noticed the green cabmen’s shelters in and around central London? There are now only 13 left of an original 61 and here in Pimlico on St. George’s Square we have one of our very own.
“They are green shed-like shelters that were built by the Cabmen’s Shelter Fund, a charity set up by the Earl of Shaftesbury in 1874, providing a pit-stop with ‘wholesome food for moderate prices’ for all London cabbies. Now Grade II listed but still in full service, this little piece of nostalgia adds to the charm of the Square.”
Georgina adds: “If you wish to appoint and agent for the sale or letting of your property with local ‘knowledge’ as good as a London cabbie then call us on 020 7828 4050.”

Writes Laura Giles, acting lettings manager at Holland Park estate agents Jackson-Stops & Staff:
“Due to soaring demand, London is to get a fourth French school with possible locations including Notting Hill, Kensington and Chelsea, all of which are well-served by us. Holland Park is a popular area for families and is convenient to all these areas. We already have the only Italian school in London and the nearby Southbank School is a firm favourite with European families, as well as those from further away.
“May is a good time for families to view houses in time to secure a new home in early Summer, as the summer holidays are a good time to settle in to London life before the new school year.”

Sprung has well and truly sprung in Holland Park
Writes Laura Giles from Holland Park estate agents Jackson-Stops & Staff:

“8 Lansdowne Walk is open Sun 12th May from 2-6pm and Weds 15th May from 3.30pm-7.30pm. Whether you are looking for inspiration or just a peek at your neighbours’ gardens, the open gardens are always very popular, particularly here in Holland Park and Notting Hill where we are blessed with such beautiful private garden squares and substantial period properties with established impressive gardens.

Weybridge estate agent on charity coast to coast bike ride
Writes Chris Morrissey of Weybridge estate agents Jackson-Stops & Staff:
“Some of you may be aware that this Bank Holiday weekend, I along with a few friends are taking a trip up north for a little bike ride – the ‘Coast to Coast’ challenge.
“It’s not a huge distance, about 170 miles, from Morecambe Bay on the West Coast across, up and over the Pennines (up to about 1,500 ft) in Lancashire then across the Yorkshire Dales to Bridlington on the East Coast.
“One of the people cycling recently lost his new born baby after just 9 weeks so we have decided to raise money for BIBS, a charity set up and run by parents who have the special care baby unit at The Royal Berkshire Hospital. This is a deserving cause in view of the support that he, his wife and their little fella Sam received.”

Planning permission granted for London’s most expensive home
Nicholas Austin Head of Sales in the Mayfair office of Jackson-Stops & Staff writes”
“David and Simon Reuben have been granted planning permission at the final hour to build the world’s most expensive home in London’s Mayfair.
“The Brothers bought the old In and Out Club in 2012 for £130,000,000 hoping to transform it into a 48 room residence worth over £215,000,000. Westminster Planning Committee almost halted the whole plan by demanding £6,700,000 in affordable house contributions but planning was finally granted after the brothers agreed to pay a contribution of £5,000,000.
“The property will consist of eleven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, 35,000 bottle wine cellar, leisure complex and 12 car garage. It will give the owner almost 60,000 sq ft of space with views over Green Park. Although the price tag is overwhelming, the price of £3,500 per sq ft is not that huge in this area.”
