Property Market Comment for Spring

Richard Addington, Director of Jackson-Stops in Exeter gives his market comment for Spring 2017.

The first quarter of 2017 is now behind us and it is beginning to be possible to discern emerging trends in the market. Last year finished with many uncertainties threatening to constrain buyer confidence. What emerged in the first quarter of this year was therefore somewhat of a surprise. Buyer confidence appeared to be undiminished as is evidenced by a 30% increase in viewings in the first quarter, whereas potential sellers have clearly been waiting to see how things develop, as is evidenced by a 25% * reduction in the number of new listings in March of this year, compared to March of 2016. The latest RICS UK Residential Housing Market survey also reports that the number of properties for sale is the lowest since the survey was started.  (read more…)
