Buston Manor is an impressive Grade II* listed country house of Medieval origin with 17th century additions in the English Baroque Style and constitutes the principal house on the Tregothnan Kent Estate. Buston Manor, formerly Burston Manor was one of three ancient manors of Hunton. A large part of the farm estate became deer parkland about the time of Elizabeth the first; but reverted to farmland in the first half of the 19th century. It is said that Oliver Cromwell lived there during the Civil War and his coat of arms were painted on the chimney breast. It was later owned by the Despencer family, the oldest surviving living title except for the Crown. The then 6th Viscount Falmouth then married into the Despenser family and bought her title and Buston Manor into the Falmouth family. During the 2nd world war Buston manor became a military hospital.
