A STYLISH AND WELL REFURBISHED SEMI-DETACHED VICTORIAN SCHOOLHOUSE IN A LOVELY VILLAGE SETTING. The Old School House is an attractive Victorian semi-detached cottage that is nicely situated on the edge of the village with a large private garden that has views up to the surrounding woods. Comprehensively and very stylishly refurbished by our clients, both interior designers, the cottage has been their beautiful rural bolt hole for the last 6 years or so. Stepping into the entrance hall the Victorian character is obvious, but beyond that the style is wonderfully eclectic. To the left there is a snug sitting room with an open fire, and to the right a contemporary kitchen/family room with a large island unit and French doors out to the courtyard and beyond that a dining room or 2nd sitting room with bi-fold doors opening out to the garden. A cloak room and small utility area complete the ground floor and upstairs there are two generous double bedrooms with fabulous high ceilings, a box room/study and a large luxury bathroom with free-standing bath and separate shower. All of this finished with great style and flair, and with the advantage of a new central heating system and new wiring. Perfect as a lovely village home with space to work and possibly extend (subject to planning consent), or to use as a weekend retreat or even a holiday let business. Slightly elevated above the lane, double gates open onto a drive with plenty of parking and turning space, and possibly space to build a garage (subject to consent). Immediately behind the house the kitchen opens onto a paved courtyard with a couple of useful brick outhouses and steps up to the largest part of the garden which is mainly laid to lawn with some mature shrubs and fruit trees, and in the far corner a secluded decked area where you can sit and enjoy the evening sun and the views across the fields. Hilton is a pretty village situated in one of the lovely valleys to the west of Blandford Forum a stone's throw from Milton Abbey and Bulbarrow, and surrounded by some of the most picturesque countryside in the south of England. There is wonderful walking, cycling and riding all around the village, and Poole Harbour, Studland Bay and Dorset's famous Jurassic Coastline are all under and an hours' drive away to the south. Hilton has a thriving community and although there are no services it is by no means isolated. There are pubs and farm shops nearby in Milton Abbey (The Hambro) and Antsy (The Fox) and village shops a few miles in either direction in Hazelbury Bryan and Milborne St. Andrew. More extensive amenities are only a short drive away in Blandford and Dorchester, and there are mainline railway stations within half an hour in Sherborne and the village of Moreton (with regular trains to London Waterloo). The easiest drive to London and the home counties is via Blandford and Salisbury onto the A303/M3. This part of Dorset has also become popular for its excellent choice of schools at all levels with primary schools nearby in Cheselborne and Milborne St. Andrew, secondary schools in Dorchester and Blandford, and a wide selection of independent schools. Milton Abbey, Bryanston and Knighton House (prep) are on the doorstep. Canford, Clayesmore, Sherborne and Hanford (prep) are nearby. Mains electricity and water are available at the property. Private drainage (shared septic tank). Oil fired radiator central heating and hot water.
