Dorking is a town steeped in history and is located within the Mole Valley gap in a stunning vantage point at the foot of Box Hill and Ranmore, which form part of the North Downs.

Dorking, unlike the neighbouring towns in this part of Surrey, is quite different and distinct. The town is surrounded by open countryside, much of which is protected and has an off the beaten track charm that sets it apart.

The town itself is fortunate enough to have a fantastic leisure centre and the Dorking Halls regularly features leading bands and other performers, with a programme of events that would not look out of place in some London and regional venues.

Numerous villages are dotted around the area offering walks, tearooms, streams, incredible views and even an award-winning vineyard at Denbies, which is a tourist destination in its own right.

Iconic landmarks include Box Hill and the famous Zig Zag, which featured in the 2012 London Olympics cycling road race. Head to the southwest and you will find Leith Hill, which at 1000 feet above sea level is the highest point in the southeast of England with a tearoom at the base of the tower.

Large tracts of land remain in private ownership, or are owned by the National Trust, making the wider Dorking area a mecca for walkers, cyclists and lovers of the great British countryside.

Dorking has maintained an identity and character that sets it apart from other towns of a similar size. Dorking Rugby Football Club, sponsored by Jackson-Stops, is one of the leading amateur sides in the country. Other sporting venues include Dorking Lawn Tennis and Squash Club, again sponsored by Jackson-Stops.

Property wise, Dorking has a wonderful mix of houses and styles ranging from notable and historic listed buildings, cottages and family homes. Further afield, the countryside is populated with some of the finest examples of country houses and estates in the southeast, all set against the backdrop of the North Downs, and the Surrey Hills.

If town living doesn't appeal, many would-be home owners are spoilt for choice with an impressive array of villages such as Brockham, Westcott, Holmbury St Mary, Westhumble, Newdigate and many more too numerous to list.

Dorking has excellent transport links by road (the M25), with three railway stations serving London and other destinations including Gatwick and Guildford.

The team at Jackson-Stops in Dorking is headed on a day-to-day basis by our Partner and Head of Office Darrell Hughes, who has over 20 years’ experience in residential sales together with Senior Partner Alan King, who oversees both the Dorking and Reigate branches and has nearly 40 years of continuous experience in both the Dorking and Reigate markets.

They are ably supported by a first rate and highly experienced team: David Baillie - Associate, Lucy Lawrie - Associate, Laura Howell - Associate and Raine Halliday - Office Administrator. Sian Jenkins and Nicola Pearce complete the Dorking team.
