Rupert Wakley to head up Jackson-Stops’ Cotswold branch

Country homes heavyweight Rupert Wakley has joined Jackson-Stops to head up our Chipping Campden branch this week, as he looks to build on the Group’s already strong reputation in the Cotswolds.

Rupert’s new role follows 15 years at Knight Frank, where he was most recently Partner and Office Head of the Stow-on-the-Wold office in Gloucestershire which he set up six years ago. Prior to that role, Rupert spent eight years at the estate agent’s Stratford-upon-Avon office, where latterly he also headed the team, after initially joining the company as a Negotiator for the Worcester branch in 2004.

Rupert, who has lived in the North Cotswolds for much of his life and has over his career built up a thorough and deep understanding of the region’s property market, will be joined by three additional team members. Annabel Wakley, Rupert’s wife, will be heading the Lettings operation of the branch, following her experience as Head of Lettings for Knight Frank, Stratford-upon-Avon. Jackie Ford, who has been instrumental in the success of the Chipping Campden office for many years will continue to be an integral part of the team with her invaluable knowledge of both the area and clients. Lydia Knight, who lives locally, joins as Office Manager, having previously worked in our Burford office.

Rupert Wakley, Partner at Jackson-Stops’ Chipping Campden, comments: Having lived and worked in the Cotswolds for many years, moving between the Stratford-upon-Avon and Stow-on-the-Wold offices for work, I was aware of the strength and reputation of Jackson-Stops across the region. This meant that when the opportunity arose for me to join the Jackson-Stops Group, which is well known for its high-quality values and service, it seemed a fitting move.

“Although a lot has changed in the last few months since Covid-19, I am looking forward to embracing our ‘new normal’ with Annabel and the team, building on our strong links with the local community, and continuing to share our knowledge and love of the Cotswolds with our clients and buyers alike. Our sales team has already hit the ground running, securing a deal on a home, which was valued at just under £2 million and sold within a week.”

Nick Leeming, Chairman of Jackson-Stops, comments: “We’re delighted to welcome Rupert Wakley to Jackson-Stops. His commitment and expertise in growing and developing offices within this region is impressive and we are looking forward to seeing Rupert, Annabel and the team continue to build on Jackson-Stops’ high-quality service in the area.”

Before establishing his career in the estate agency industry, Rupert was a professional Jump Jockey for 10 years, riding approximately 250 winners in seven different countries. Prolific winners include Wandering Light, which he rode to victory at Cheltenham Festival. Rupert also won the World Champion Amateur title in the Fegentri Series.
