Jackson-Stops produces Annie Tempest's very first animation
Readers of Country Life will be familiar with its weekly cartoon strip ‘Tottering by Gently’, chronicling the everyday capers of Dicky and Daffy Tottering at Tottering Hall. The illustrator behind the cartoon, British artist Annie Tempest, has a long-standing relationship with Jackson-Stops, creating bespoke cartoons which have been widely used over the years in the company’s marketing, the Tottering humour being so well matched to the intricacies of the London and country property markets.
Taking this collaboration one step further, Jackson-Stops has just produced Annie’s very first animation. This short film takes the form of Dicky in a black cab reading the FT on his way into London and Daffy in her Land Rover with her dogs, on her way out of London. The two pass with a cheery wave and the message appears ‘Whether country or town Jackson-Stops is the national estate agent locals recommend’.
The animation was handled by Eliot Wykes of Part Human, the animation production company known for television shows and advertisements including work for Coca-Cola and Mercedes. Eliot worked closely with Annie at all stages of the production to ensure the result would raise a smile and be unmistakably ‘Tottering’.
Nick Leeming, Chairman of Jackson-Stops, comments “We are delighted to have collaborated with Annie in her first animated feature which not only adds to the annals of the Tottering repertoire but also perfectly aligns with the spirit of Jackson-Stops”. Annie Tempest comments “I’m thrilled to have my first animated feature released and am delighted to have worked alongside Jackson-Stops and Part Human. They have perfectly caught the essence of the Tottering style and I can see future animations being a natural extension of my work”.
