Easter days out in the North West

The late date of Easter Sunday this year – Sunday 17th April – is a great blessing as those family days out over the Easter weekend have a greater chance of seeing some good weather! We look at some of the events taking place across the region…

Chester
Chester Zoo – throughout April
Chester zoo has some eggcellent activities planned over the Easter holidays, including a series of events for children of all ages!

Surrounded by more than 21,000 incredible animals and thousands of beautiful plants, the zoo is hoping the programme will get young creative minds wandering and inner storytellers exploring.

Each day (24th March-15th April) three-to-five-year-olds can take part in morning story time with songs. Families can also join the Zoo Rangers for a special story in a range of unusual locations around the zoo. There are also workshops and a visit from the Hallé Orchestra, taking visitors on a mesmerising journey through Borneo to meet some friends of the forest.

Easter Adventure Quest at Beeston Castle - 2nd-24th April, 10am - 5pm

Beeston Castle and Woodland Park, Chapel Lane, Beeston, Cheshire, CW6 9TX

With several opportunities to take part in Easter-themed fun, this almost month-long celebration takes place in the grounds of beautiful Beeston Castle and its woodland park.

With Easter egg hunts, egg and spoon races and chocolate treats, it's sure to be a winning day out for the younger members of your family and at £1.50 (in addition to normal ticket prices) it's an affordable day out for all the family.

Always a sell out, The Church Farm Easter Egg hunt begins with a tractor ride journey to the magical forest where your little ones will search for clues to complete their puzzle page.

Anglesey
Beaumaris Castle's Easter Eggstravaganza
17th-18th April, 10am-5pm

The castle welcomes warrior knights who'll be portraying life as it was back in medieval Wales. Expect archery, circus workshops, musical interludes, a visit from the castle executioner and of course a wonderful Easter egg hunt!

The day will culminate in a battle between Gerard de Rhodes and Captain Nicholas Horton, accompanied by their men and archers. Standard castle admission prices apply.

Indoor Fun Fair - 9th - 20th April
