Guidance on Viewings

Following the UK government’s revised CV-19 guidelines on home moving, viewings on residential properties can now take place for both sales and lettings.

To comply with the guidance issued and making sure that we protect our clients, along with our staff and those wishing to view, we have put the following procedures in place:

•    All viewings will be arranged by appointment only and prior to any viewings taking place we will make sure we understand the applicant’s buying position clearly and that all parties involved have fully studied the particulars and discussed the property with the agent to make sure the property suits their requirements.  We can carefully review each viewing request with our clients on a case by case basis.  Applicants will receive written guidance for each viewing.

•    Viewings will only involve the maximum of two people from a single household and one member of Jackson-Stops staff.  Home schooling may mean parents arrive with children.  At this stage children will not be able to enter a home but we can talk through how their parents must prepare for their supervision if brought along.  We will also have to cater for contractors on a separate appointment.  Buying Agents known to our firm will also be catered for but with small adaptions of this general guidance.

•    Prior to any viewings taking place we will contact all parties involved asking for confirmation that no one has presented any symptoms associated with COVID-19 in the last 7 days.  The viewing will not go ahead if anyone has shown symptoms or have been self-isolating.  We can postpone.

•    We will accompany the viewing following the 2 metre social distancing rules and all parties will be wearing face masks and have their own hand sanitiser and preferably gloves

•    Prior to the viewing we will ask you to open all the internal doors and doors to garages and outbuildings where possible, we will also ask to open windows if the weather allows

•    For your safety we ask that you to vacate the house during the visit

•    We will avoid touching any surfaces where possible

•    We will make sure the time taken inside your property is limited

•    Once the viewing has taken place, you should ensure surfaces, such as door handles, are cleaned with standard household cleaning products and towels disposed of safely or washed as appropriate
