  • Unique business model offers opportunities for ambitious estate agents with minimal upfront cost, providing autonomy within a nationally recognised brand

Jackson-Stops, the national estate agent with more than 40 branches and 25 members across the UK, has welcomed a wave of new talent entering the business as it continues to grow its presence. In the last six months alone, the network has welcomed three new members, resulting in two new office openings in Cheltenham and Oundle.

Established in 1910, Jackson-Stops has become a sought-after brand due to its rich heritage in the country and waterside home markets. The new Directors have strengthened the network from the Cotswolds through to Taunton and bring a breadth of expertise, fresh contacts and skills to the Group.

  • Chris Jarrett has recently opened the Jackson-Stops Cheltenham office, having joined the group after spending 13 years at Savills, most recently as Head of Office in Cheltenham. Chris has a strong track record of running successful and highly profitable teams. His deep understanding of the local market and commitment to client satisfaction make him a valuable addition to the Jackson-Stops network.

  • Marcus Browne has recently acquired the Taunton office from Brian Bishop who will remain as a consultant with the business to ensure a smooth transition for existing and future clients. Marcus joins from Knight Frank, having previously worked at Strutt & Parker, Savills and Winkworth. His local connections and expertise will ensure the continued success and growth of the Taunton office.

  • Brendan May is set to open a new Jackson-Stops office in Oundle, bringing a solid background in estate agency and business coaching. As an agent, Brendan has experienced various markets, in recent years focusing on unique, period and design-led homes. Recently a Partner as well as Growth and Training Director at Hortons, he has also had great success as an industry business coach and mentor. May has a passion for modern communication and marketing strategies, positioning him to bring fresh perspectives to the Jackson-Stops group.

Nick Leeming, Chairman at Jackson-Stops, comments: "The recent additions of Chris, Marcus and Brendan to the Jackson-Stops network underscore the great opportunities for ambitious estate agents to join an established brand. Our unique Group structure enables members to run their own business while accessing centralised resources, support and national brand visibility.

“We are particularly focused on expanding along the M4 corridor between Windsor and Bristol, seeking driven professionals specialising in mid to higher-value country markets. Estate agents operating in this area who align with our values and are looking for the challenge, excitement and rewards of running their own business are encouraged to make contact."

When asked about his decision to join the Jackson-Stops network, Chris Jarrett, Director at Jackson-Stops Cheltenham, said: “In the competitive world of estate agency, brand strength is everything. Jackson-Stops stands out as an undoubtedly top-tier brand that offers agents the perfect combination of autonomy and brand recognition. This is precisely why I chose to join.

“The challenges of the current market have only reinforced the value of my decision. In a year marked by political and economic headwinds, I’m attracting fresh contacts who immediately recognize and respect the brand – something that's critically important in today's estate agency landscape.”

A Distinctive Business Model
Jackson-Stops offers a unique Group structure that empowers estate agents to invest in and develop their own businesses under a prestigious, nationally-recognised brand. Each business owner controls a specific geographical area and sits on the Board of Directors, ensuring local autonomy within a carefully governed national framework.

The Group minimises centralised overheads while providing comprehensive support across marketing, PR, compliance, strategy, IT, finance and legal services. With a close-knit network of principals who regularly meet to share industry insights and best practices, the Group fosters continuous professional development and mutual support. Clients consistently return to Jackson-Stops for expert guidance in buying, selling and renting homes, reflected in the network's outstanding 4.8 'excellent' TrustPilot rating.

A brand with heritage
Founded in 1910 by Herbert Jackson-Stops in Towcester, the company began as auctioneers and valuers. A defining moment came in 1921 with the landmark 19-day auction of Stowe House, described by Country Life as one of the greatest country house sales of the twentieth century. Expanding beyond local auctions, Herbert opened a London office and developed the country house business through the 1920s & 1930s.

By 1992, the company transformed into its current exclusive Group format. Today, Jackson-Stops has grown to over 40 offices nationwide, covering London and the South-East; East Anglia; central England; the Cotswolds; the Midlands; the West Country; the North-West and Wales; Yorkshire and the North-East. Despite the brand’s historic links, it continues to innovate, having launched its own online auctions service earlier this year in a partnership with Bamboo Auctions.

Jarrett concludes: “The recent Jackson-Stops conference was a revelation. After nearly 30 years in the industry, I can honestly say it was the most purposeful and inspiring professional event I've ever attended. It wasn't just a conference; it was a testament to the network's commitment to its agents, delivering insights and opportunities with remarkable integrity.

“Joining Jackson-Stops wasn't just a career move – it was a strategic decision to elevate my professional potential and connect with a network that truly understands the modern estate agency landscape."

Growth opportunities for ambitious agents
For ambitious estate agents who have decided the time has come to run their own business but want the backing of a well-respected national brand whilst maintaining their operational independence, Jackson-Stops can provide the ideal opportunity. Equally, an existing local estate agency business may want to re-brand to Jackson-Stops for greater marketing reach and all the benefits of the national network.

Opportunities for entry include areas without current representation; areas where established offices are looking to expand and occasionally the transfer of an existing business due to retirement.
