Love where you work - Hale, Cheshire

Anthony Jevons is the director of our Hale branch and he knows the Hale, Bowdon, Hale Barns, Altrincham and surrounding areas' property markets very well indeed. With more than 30 years of experience in the local property market, Anthony is well placed to offer insight into the market, as well as about the beauty to be found across the county. As he lives and works in Cheshire, we asked him to tell us what he loves about some of the villages and towns in Cheshire...

What’s your favourite thing to do in Cheshire?
I love cycling around the country lanes in Cheshire, particularly first thing in the morning before the traffic begins. One of my favourite rides is to Tatton Park, where invariably I'll spot some of the resident deer. I also love cycling through the early moring mist!

What landmark in Cheshire do you most love and why?
It has to be White Nancy. I grew up in Prestbury and I could see it from my bedroom window. White Nancy is a structure at the top of Kerridge Hill, overlooking Kerridge and Bollington.

Built by John Gaskell in 1817 to commemorate the victory at the Battle of Waterloo, there are many stories about its name. Some believe it was named after John's daughter, Nancy, others believe it was named after the white horse that hauled it up to the top of Kerridge Hill. It has Grade II listed status

What’s it like living in Tytherington?
Tytherington is located between Prestbury and the edge of the Peak District, so it serves my passion for cycling well! There are so many fantastic walks and cycling routes in and around Tytherington, taking in many local landmarks including some rather good pubs!

What secret place do you like to go to?
The Foxhole in Prestbury because I know just about everyone who goes in there, as I went to primary school with many of them! The pub is family run and offers a cosy, friendly welcome with a great selection of drinks and fabulous food. Ye Olde Admiral Rodney in Prestbury is also another great pub serving lovely food and even has a pop up tapas takeover evening and a great events calendar.

I also love just getting out on a good walk either on the Bolin Valley - any part of the 25 mile path - or the Middlewood Way, which is a ten mile curcular walk through a wildlife corridor. It's easy going so suitable for all the family.
