Richmond Switches On for Christmas 2018

In our endeavours to support our exceptional local community here in Richmond but also to secure some valuable brand awareness, Jackson-Stops, Richmond secured lead sponsor position at The Richmond Christmas Lights Switch On Event.
We erected our branded gazebo and set up various fun competitions for visitors to our pitch. We were exceptionally busy all evening ‘meeting and greeting’ many of whom were young families who were also keen to see their favourite TV character, Peppa Pig who was the star turn of the evening! Father Christmas was also able to take time out of his busy schedule to make an appearance. Radio Jackie compered the event from a stage constructed across George Street.

We had three different competitions. Our ‘Test of Strength’ game attracted people to use our mallet to strike a metal button as hard as they could and see how far the gauge moved towards the pinnacle bell. Surprisingly few hit the bell but many, many people attempted including one recognisable film character illustrating that our game ‘went down a storm trooper!’   In our ‘Wheel of Fortune’ game we invited children to spin a wheel and then ‘lucky dip’ from 3 boxes with prizes within, also a huge hit. Our ‘Guess the Total Guide Prices’ competition attracted the budding estate agent in many. A photo and description of 6 properties currently for sale in central London featured on a poster and visitors were asked to guess the total for the chance to win a bottle of champagne by being the closest. The winner was £100,000 off the £21.6m correct figure and the champagne has been presented to Pete and Sophie from Kew!

The Christmas Tree lights just outside Whole Foods were duly powered up by Peppa Pig soon after 6pm and the town now has a festive focal point for the Christmas season. The evening concluded with a spectacular firework display on The Green, a fitting end to a very successful evening that will also have helped retailers who opened late to offer Christmas shopping opportunities to local residents.
