There’s a lot going on in Cheshire and North Wales this Halloween, whether you’re looking for full on fright material or more sedate pumpkin picking, and we look at a selection of events taking place…

Chester
Chester Zoo
For a magical experience that all the family will enjoy, Chester Zoo could be the place for you. Taking place from 1st to 31st October, there’s every chance of securing a space at Luna’s lost spell Halloween trail, where kids of all ages can help Luna the witch in her search for lost spells. With one- and two-hours slots, you will discover six amazing animals with the help of augmented reality, and you can do this for the regular zoo entry price. Find out more.

Ghost walking tours
With a claim to be one of the most haunted cities in the UK, Chester stakes its ghostly reputation on giving you a frightfully good tour of the city, where you will hear spooky stories and possibly see a ghost. Although this event has been taking place since April this year, there would be something extra special about taking part close to Halloween. Your stay in a central Chester hotel is complete with spooky pursuits, where you will get up close and personal to ghost hunting equipment and search through the night for paranormal activity! Bolesworth Castle
Pumpkin picking Take your family along to Bolesworth Castle between 8th and 30th October and pick a pumpkin! The pumpkin patch is free to enter, and you can book to take part in the Halloween Maze and get arty with craft sessions. Find out more

Tatton Park

Pumpkin patch loveliness takes place at the farm, where you can meet your favourite farm animals before embarking on a quest to find the perfect pumpkin. From 22nd – 30th October. Find out more.

The Old Hall A Wizards' Gathering at The Old Hall! Tatton Park takes place on 22nd October, where you can help to defeat the evil sorcerer Dimitri, who has been banished from the Wizards’ village. Expect stories, spell casting and broomstick lessons! Find out more.

Northwich – Blakemere Village
The Magical Wonderland

A great event for families located in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, experience nature in all its autumnal glory, lit up by dazzling cathedral canopies of fairy lights, interactive light features, and dancing tunnels of Borealis-style lasers. Fans of Harry Potter will be delighted to experience a forbidden forest this Halloween, with booking from 15th October. Created by award-winning theatrical designers and experiential creators, this night-time woodland trail experience will be filled with magical creatures and wizarding wonders from the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films. A lantern parade is coming to Bickley Moss as BeWILDerwood transports you to a magical experience of light, mystery and spooky stories as you make your way through the woods. Adventure Parc Snowdonia has a veritable feast of events for children and grown ups. Its Friday night drive-in will be hijacked by horror on 25th and 26th October, with screenings of some scary movies - strictly for the grown ups! Expect killer dolls, zombies and black humour. For those with little people, there's a whole day of Halloween on the 26th October, with a children's party, pumpkin carving, and more entertainment including some less scary movies. Find out more.
