"I like everyone else had seen all the enticing ads on TV for cut price internet estate agents, save thousands, so they say - so give it a go I thought, I’ve nothing to lose, not realising I had a lot to lose by losing time. I wasted months by sealing myself into a contract that did not see a single soul cross my desirable holiday cottage business doorstep, and was rarely able to talk to anyone about this difficult position. 

"When my contract commitment was up, I re-thought what my best options were to make positive progress and no more mistakes. I remembered a few months previously, having had a very helpful conversation with a prestigious agent in York, regarding another property enquiry. At that time I didn’t think my modest cottage would have been of much interest to a company dealing nationwide in property millions. How wrong I was - the agent was Nick Talbot the company was Jackson-Stops York and the congenial attitude towards myself was quite the reverse to my expectations.

"My cottage was warmly welcomed onto the books of this wonderful company, where everyone employed there went that extra mile to secure for me a successful sale. Tom Gould was assigned to deal with the marketing of my sale, and quite honestly I could not have asked for a more proactive, diplomatic, and intelligent approach, from a young man newly recruited, who worked so professionally within this established team. 

"By this time, my property was facing possible sales difficulties as second homes and holiday lets were not attracting the keen investors of the past who were facing the financial uncertainty under the cloud of Brexit. Jackson-Stops was not deterred by this; quite the reverse as they promoted open days and inclusive press coverage wherever they were able to in appropriate property articles. A buyer was found, and the wheels of conveyancing went into motion, but sadly the sale fell through. It was back to the drawing board and within a matter of days of re-marketing Tom had secured several more viewings, the first of which was the eventual buyer.

During the conveyance time - towards the final completion - Tom never once let any slowdown in the sale slip, always keeping me informed of the buyer’s chain progress to avoid any future hiccups. I felt that during the whole of this difficult personal period for me, the York team I got to know - Jenny, Nick, Tom - were all incredibly supportive, and gave a quality of service, second to none, and proved you really do get what you pay for.
