She believes that his attention to detail, friendly manner and ability to negotiate with the purchaser and solicitors made him the perfect choice.

My husband and I were considering downsizing for quite some time so we decided to ask two estate agents to provide us with a market appraisal. Although both came back with similar prices, we chose Jackson-Stops because of Nick’s attention to detail and ability to make the process appear simple and doable.

Our property, which was in rural position but only six miles from York railway station, was unusual in that it was a single property in a 5 acre field with quite a lot of outbuildings including a workshop. My husband and his parents originally built the property. Nick and the team at Jackson-Stops put our home on the market on a Monday and the buyer was shown around on the Tuesday. Once we had established that they were serious, Nick did a marvellous job of negotiating with them and producing a realistic offer. I dropped a little on price with the proviso that exchange and completion happened by a particular date. 

Of course, that date arrived and we hadn’t completed – as is often the case – but I have to say that Nick was wonderful during this notoriously stressful time. One snag involved the water metre, which was located in the village – through the adjacent farmers’ two fields, which led to the buyer showing some concern. However, Nick facilitated a meeting with the buyer at my property, where they were able to see the pipes and the buyer went away fully satisfied.

I moved out of the property in November, which was later than planned, but Nick sorted all of the legal paperwork with the solicitors and managed to ensure that completion took place before I flew out of the country. When it was time to leave, Nick came to my home and helped me with the handover – he was so supportive throughout the entire process. His caring nature shines through and he really spends time listening. 

Jackson-Stops and Nick really did meet my expectations and I would recommend them. In fact, a friend of mine knew how positive the process had been on the whole and asked for Nick to visit her property with a view to putting it on the market.
