Renewed confidence in the property market

With Brexit decisions made, the UK political landscape looking more stable and a New Year ahead, we predict that there will be increased levels of property transactions and new properties coming to market this year: buyers are now more engaged, and this is a great time to consider buying or selling a property.

We’re not alone: the general consensus from economists and property experts alike is that the decisive general election result is already leading to the release of pent up demand in the property market, with many more properties coming to market.

Mortgage lenders have begun to offer a wider range of products for first-time buyers – the lynchpin in the housing market – such as 40-year mortgages and 5% deposit mortgages. This facilitates movement further up the chain: property will begin to move more swiftly over the next quarter.

Alan King, Partner at Jackson-Stops Dorking, commented: “In just the first couple of weeks into the year here at Dorking we’re already witnessing renewed confidence in the market, which is very encouraging.

“Many owners who have been thinking of selling but felt unsure due to the economic uncertainty in the country, are now springing into action. We have many lovely properties lined up to come to market over the next month or two, so be sure to check our website or pick up the phone for a chat: 01306 887560.”

Pip Ballard, Director at Jackson-Stops Reigate, commented “We too have experienced a definite sense of an increase in confidence and a renewed level of activity in the residential market in the first weeks of the new decade.

"As well as continuing to discreetly market a number of high quality properties, vendors who were hesitant to come to the market in the latter part of 2019 are speaking to us with restored enthusiasm at the start of 2020. Take a look at our website, call us on 01737 222 027 or come into our office on Bell Street and meet the team”

Take advantage of a confident property market - if you’re thinking of buying or selling property now is a great time to firm up your plans.
