Richmond Rocks

Continuing with our ‘My Story’ blog series, we talk to one of Richmond Landlords about letting in the area and ask why he has used our lettings service for nearly ten years.

1. What made you choose Jackson-Stops as your letting agent nearly ten years ago?

Location and reputation played a big part. The management company and other landlords in my block all spoke highly of Jackson-Stops and it just felt right when I met the team.

2. What are the main things you consider when assessing prospective new tenants?

Obviously references play a part, but I have also grown to trust the advice I receive from Edward at Jackson-Stops. It’s great when potential tenants like the area, like the flat, like the location, the view, the light and so on. I also try and meet tenants early in the tenancy to establish a relationship - the feedback I get from tenants is also positive about the JS team, too.

3. What's the most important thing a letting agent can do to smooth the process for Landlords?

Managing the viewings and keeping me in touch about progress and feedback are top of my list.

4. What are tenants looking for in a rental property?

My experience is that first impressions are important, so understanding the condition and tidiness of the property - especially if there is a tenant currently in place. It also helps to provide very clear information about parking, visitors, security, access and so on.

5. What do you think makes Richmond a great place to rent?

We loved living in Richmond for many years ourselves; it's buzzy, the River is great and the park is a complete joy, not to mention the brilliant transport links in and out of central London.
