Situated between two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) the historic Georgian town of Blandford Forum remains a significant local business centre. As well as one of the largest regional breweries, Blandford Forum is home to the Royal Signals Regiment, an annual Georgian Fayre in May and the Dorset Steam Fair, which is held a few miles from the town and is one of the biggest events of its type in Europe. However, in Estate Agency terms the real strength of the area lies in the many picturesque villages located in the countryside around Blandford; including Cranborne, Sixpenny Handley, the Tarrants, Bere Regis, the Winterbornes, Milton Abbas, Hazelbury Bryan and Iwerne Courtney. These are now a major draw for family home buyers in Dorset, and while Dorset is one of the few UK counties not to have a motorway, itself an attraction for many who choose to make it their home, it has a number of good roads linking into the network and rail access into London Waterloo and London Paddington.
