THE PROPERTY

A most attractive detached period cottage with a superb annexe, set in peaceful and secluded grounds of about an acre, with fabulous views over the Marshwood Vale. THE PROPERTY Situated at the end of a long driveway in an idyllic location, first glimpses of Providence Cottage are most impressive with its most attractive colour washed stone and rendered faade under a pitched slate roof. Believed to date back over 200 years, this wonderful property has been upgraded and is now a perfect juxtaposition of old and new with very well-presented yet flexible accommodation. On first entering the property there is a real sense of charm, space and light with a good-sized hallway with pretty ceramic tiles. To one side of the hall is a perfectly proportioned sitting room with a woodburning stove and also a study/office with a pretty window seat. There is also direct access to the delightful gardens and paved terrace, ideal for al fresco dining. The family kitchen is quite simply 'as good as it gets' incorporating a 6 ring professional oven and a number of attractive wall and base units. There is also plenty of room for a generous dining table and sofa, ideal for taking in the wonderful views over the delightful gardens. On the ground floor is also a superb one bedroomed annexe with a surprisingly large kitchen, ideal for guests, but which has also been successfully holiday let by the present owners. It separates very well from the main house with its own separate entrance. The principal bedrooms are situated on the first floor with three beautiful bedrooms, all with views over the gardens. There is also a family bathroom and en suite shower room. OUTSIDE The wonderful gardens surround the property with a number of fantastic places to sit and relax and take in the amazing setting. There is also an artist's studio with a paved terrace in front, attached to a garden store. To one end is a small orchard, fruit cage and greenhouse. There is a large garage with ample driveway parking. On the far side of the house is a fantastic closed vegetable garden and potting shed, paved eating terrace and gravelled barbeque area. This leads down to a stream and mature woodlands, a utopia for children and animals. All in all, this is a truly wonderful property in an idyllic yet very convenient location. LOCATION The pretty and idyllic village of Ryall is within an Area of Outstanding National Beauty on the edge of the Marshwood Vale, and around 2.6 miles inland from the World Heritage Jurassic Coastline with its spectacular coastal path and beaches. Local amenities are available in the nearby village of Morcombelake with a well-stocked and popular farm shop, Chideock with a village shop & post office and public house, with the nearest public house just over half a mile away in Whitchurch Canonicorum. The attractive Georgian market town of Bridport is just under 5 miles and has an excellent number of independent shops and restaurants, a thriving twice weekly street market, supermarkets including Waitrose and Morrisons, cottage hospital, large medical centre, popular leisure centre, successful Arts Centre, two theatres, and a number of independent festivals involving the arts held throughout the year. Just under 7 miles to the west is the most picturesque and popular coastal resort of Lyme Regis, noted for its attractive period buildings, the Cobb, and harbour.
