THE HISTORY
Shenley Park House has historical links to the World War II Codebreakers of Bletchley Park who were featured in the Oscar winning film The Imitation Game. American cryptographers stayed at the house and worked alongside Alan Turing who successfully decoded German messages using The Enigma Machine significantly shortening the length of World War II.
GROUND FLOOR
The house is approached via a fine doric columned porch with arched fanlight and 6 panel door leading into an impressive reception hall with 3.3m ceiling height, flagstone flooring and a superb turned staircase set to the end of the hall which rises to the first floor.
Lying to the right, the dual aspect drawing room has a feature fireplace with inset log burning stove, decorative wall panelling, cornicing and two full-length windows and doors provide access to the Orangery. Originally constructed in the 1930’s and significantly improved with double-glazed full-height and width picture windows and doors to the terrace, the Orangery is a delightful room for entertaining and enjoys a super view over the garden.

A columned porch with double solid wooden doors open to the rear courtyard and stairs lead to the lower ground floor.

Further rooms flow from the gym and offer excellent dry storage for suitcases, Christmas decorations etc and there is a wine and drinks cellar. Two further gas boilers which serve the property’s central heating are housed on this level.
Forming the heart of the home with bi-folding doors to the new terrace and garden, the kitchen/breakfast room has been completely refitted with a comprehensive bespoke, handmade, range of base and tall cupboards set around a central island and feature chimney breast cooker housing with a gas point. This island has a silestone work surface and breakfast bar area. The siltstone worktops have twin sink units and a Quooker tap, a water softener is housed under the sink area.
